From our new branch office in Borna, we are helping to improve the human rights situation worldwide. The work of BAFA on the Supply Chain Act is multi-faceted, interdisciplinary and international.

Besides Merseburg, Borna is one of the two new branch offices in the Central German Coal Mining District (Mitteldeutsches Braunkohlerevier). Both locations are part of the Federal Government’s commitment to create 5,000 new jobs by 2029 in those regions that are particularly affected by the structural and economical transition.

As part of the Halle-Leipzig Metropolitan Region, the family-friendly City of Borna with its 20,000 inhabitants impresses with convenient transportation, including regional and suburban rail connections, two motorway junctions and proximity to the Leipzig/Halle Airport. The city center of Leipzig is only 30 kilometers away from Borna.

The Halle-Leipzig metropolitan region is a vibrant economic and cultural attraction in eastern Germany. Numerous former coalmines have been flooded and are now used as local recreation areas. The new lake scenery has become a popular destination within the region.
